The city of Hyderabad has been witnessing more Monsoon rains in the last few days than it does during more than half of the month of August. In fact, a day before the city of Nizams recorded a whopping 114 mm of rainfall which happens to be the highest rains in the last seven years during the month of August.
However, rainfall activity did witness a reduction during the last 24 hours and only light rains were seen over Hyderabad and adjoining parts of the state of Telangana. In a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday, Hyderabad witnessed a mere 2 mm of rain. Meanwhile Hanamkonda witnessed 8.4 mm of rain, and Nizamabad 1.9 mm.

The ongoing rainfall activities can be attributed to two weather features. One of them is the cyclonic circulation which persists over Northeast Madhya Pradesh while the other happens to be a trough which is extending from Odisha up to Tamil Nadu in proximity of Telangana.
