On one hand, most parts of North and Central India are reeling under dry and warm weather conditions, however, the Monsoon rains are lavishly lashing the Southern Peninsular India. In fact, Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema have not remained distinct from receiving good Monsoon showers.

But the last 2-3 days have proved to be a boon for the region wherein most parts of the state have recorded light to moderate rains. Though the intensity of these showers was more over the coastal region of the state as compared with the interior regions. The similar weather pattern continued in the last 24 hours as well.

In the span of 24 hours from 08:30 am as on Monday, Kavali recorded 53 mm of rains, Anantapur 27.4 mm, Tirupathi 27 mm, Vijayawada 16 mm, Ongole and Nellore both recorded 11 mm of rains and Rentachintala witnessed 5 mm of light rains.

As per Skymet Weather, these rains can be attributed to the cyclonic circulation which was over the Bay of Bengal. Now, this cyclonic circulation can be seen persisting over the west-central Bay of Bengal and a trough from this system is extending up to southwest Arabian Sea across Rayalaseema.

Moreover, a shear zone is also seen at around 5.8 km above sea level running across Rayalaseema. In the wake of this, moderate rains with one or two heavy spells are likely to continue over Rayalaseema for the next 2 days.

In addition to this, the prevailing light to moderate rains over Coastal Andhra Pradesh is also likely to continue for at least next 3-4 days. Hence, in a nutshell, it can be said that almost the entire Andhra Pradesh is set to receive decent rains almost throughout the month which in turn will be beneficial for the upcoming Rabi crop.

Moreover, as on September 25, both Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema regions are rain surplus by 14% and 26% respectively. Additionally, these ongoing rains will enhance the rainfall statistics.
