After a short break, Monsoon rains reappeared over Bangalore on Tuesday. In span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Tuesday, the city recorded moderate showers to the tune of 32 mm.
According to Skymet Weather, these fresh rain can be attributed to the combination of weather systems prevailing on either side of the coast. The off-shore trough running along the West Coast has activated once again, while a fresh cyclonic circulation has developed over Coastal Tamil Nadu and adjoining Comorin area.
Both the systems coupled together has given good rain over several parts of North Karnataka including Bangalore. Weathermen predict that light to moderate rains are likely to continue for at least another 24 to 48 hours.
The last good showers that the city managed to witness were on August 25 where it has recorded 15 mm rainfall.
The city has observed 83 mm rainfall till now against the average monthly rainfall of 142. 5 mm. With this, the state capital city has failed to surpass its monthly mean for August. However, Bangalore has so far managed to achieve its monthly target, both in June as well as July.
