The month of June was exceptionally good for Bangalore in terms of Monsoon rains. The Silicon City received double the amount of Monsoon rains than its monthly average rainfall for June. However, July hasn’t even displayed half the performance than what was witnessed in June.
In fact, during the entire month, Bangalore has only witnessed rainfall in single digits. Barring one day, which is on July 16 when 11 mm of rain was recorded, good showers have not visited Bangalore.
However, rain Gods have finally bestowed some kindness on Bangalore and good rains have been recorded over the city. During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Wednesday, a good 23 mm of rainfall has been received.
Now, Bangalore is expected to receive on and off rains throughout the weekend. In fact, rainfall intensity is expected to increase over the capital city of Karnataka around July 24 and 25.
So far, Bangalore has only received 43 mm of rain which is way less than what was recorded last month. While the monthly average rainfall for Bangalore during the month of July stands at 108.9 mm, it does seem like a daunting target for the city to reach the above-mentioned figures.
Last year also, Bangalore had recorded 94.1 mm of rain in July, which is less than its monthly rainfall figures. Hopefully, the upcoming rainy spell may be able to help Bangalore to at least get closer to its monthly rains.
