Weather of Gujarat has been dry since last many days. Isolated pockets of South Gujarat like Bhavnagar and Surat are receiving on and off light rain. At present, Gujarat as a whole is rain deficient by 23% whereas if we see region wise stats in the state then Saurashtra & Kutch is rain deficient by 19% and Gujarat region is rain deficit by 26%.
But now a deep depression which is over Southeast Uttar Pradesh and adjoining Madhya Pradesh is expected to move in a westerly direction that will start affecting Gujarat region. We expect that the dry spell of Gujarat is likely to come to an end. And light to moderate rains will once again commence over Gujarat region.
These rains are expected to continue for another 24-48 hours. These rains will help to bring down the rain deficiency but not drastically. The incessant heavy to extremely heavy rain can be ruled out.
Even with the absence of incessant Monsoon rain, these light to moderate rains is no less than boon for the farmers. Especially the farmers with Soybean crop, these crops were in dire need of these rains that were absent for a long time from the state.
