The North Indian Plains have been witnessing warm and dry weather for the past two to three days. In fact, the states of Punjab, Haryana as well as Uttar Pradesh have also witnessed an increase in maximum temperatures.
Residents of these areas have been craving for some good rains to give them respite from the ongoing weather conditions.
It seems like rain gods have finally decided to respond to the prayers of the residents of North India. Good rains are likely to make a comeback over several cities of the North Indian plains including Patiala, Ambala, Chandigarh, Kanpur, Agra and Lucknow along with other parts of the states.

The weather conditions will be attributed to the axis of the monsoon trough which is expected to shift towards the north in proximity of North India.

A cyclonic circulation also persists over East Rajashthan which will also move northwards towards Haryana and Punjab. Not only this, a Western Disturbance is expected to affect the Hills of North India and some of its effects will also be felt over the North Indian plains.
In a nutshell, in the next 24 to 48 hours Punjab Haryana and parts of Uttar Pradesh are expected to witness moderate to heavy rains with isolated very heavy showers.
