The states of Odisha and Chhattisgarh have been seeing some rainfall activities for the past 24 hours. In fact, rains have been on the moderate side for the state of Odisha. Meanwhile, parts of Chhattisgarh have witnessed light rains only.
During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday, Balasore recorded a good 27 mm of rains, Ambikapur 1 mm, Jagdalpur 1.2 mm, Pendra saw 7.6 mm of rainfall, Chandbali 3.2 mm, and Paradip recorded 1.1 mm of rainfall.
These rains can be attributed to the cyclonic circulation which is persisting over Northwest Bay of Bengal. This weather system is expected to intensify into a well marked low pressure during the next 24 to 48 hours.
During the next 24 hours, heavy showers are likely over many parts of Odisha, while Chhattisgarh will see moderate spells of rains during the same time frame. Moreover, a few isolated heavy spells over some areas of Chhattisgarh also cannot be ruled out.
Thus, cities of Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Keonjhargarh, Angul, Balasore, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, Dhenkanal and Phulbani in Odisha will see heavy rains. Talking about Chhattisgarh, cities of Koria, Jaspur, Raigarh, Mahendragarh will see moderate showers.
Temperatures over both these states will remain on the lower side due to these rainfall activities.
