The West Coast of the country has been witnessing on and off continuous rains from the past few days. As predicted by Skymet weather, Cannur and Kozhikode witnessed heavy rain in the past day.

In the last 24 hours from 8.30 am on Wednesday, Cannur recorded heavy rain to the tune of 77 mm, Kozhikode 48 mm, Mangalore 47.9 mm, Cochin 32 mm, Thiruvananthapuram 41 mm and Alappuzha 23 mm. In the same span of time, Punalur witnessed light rain to the tune of 10 mm, Honavar 2.4 mm, Karwar 2.2 mm and Panjim2 mm.
These rains can be attributed to the upper air trough, which is extending from North Coastal Andhra Pradesh to Kerala across Karnataka. This weather system is now shifting eastwards gradually. Due to this weather system, moderate to heavy rainfall is likely to continue at many places over Coastal Karnataka and North Kerala Coast.

These Monsoon showers are likely to continue for the next two to three days. Thereafter, the rain intensity will decrease as the above weather system will weaken. Sky will be overcast to cloudy and the weather will be comfortable but slight humidity will prevail. Meanwhile, Konkan & Goa will also continue receiving light monsoon rains.
The maximum temperatures will be recorded between 29°C -30°C and minimums will settle around 24°C-25°C in Coastal Kerala and Karnataka. However, Goa may record one or two degrees more.
