The states of Punjab and Haryana have not witnessed heavy Monsoon showers for quite some time now. In fact, rains have almost been a no show for the past few days. However, both these states are gearing up for some good spells of rain.
The well-marked low pressure is moving towards Arabian Sea. Until now, western arm of axis of Monsoon trough was running via this well marked low-pressure area. However, now, due to westward movement of this system, axis of Monsoon trough will start moving northward.

Thus, many parts of Punjab and Haryana will receive light to moderate rains. Not only this, one or two heavy spells may also occur over the region. These on and off rains are expected to continue until September 2.
Cities including Amritsar, Chandigarh, Ambala, Ludhiana, Karnal, Faridabad will observe good showers. Meanwhile, Sirsa, Bhiwani, Hisar, Bathinda and Ferozepur are expected to witness light showers only.
These rains are expected to be probably one of the last Monsoon spells as Monsoon starts withdrawing from West Rajasthan from September 1.
Though on odd good spells of rain may occur due to the oscillation of Monsoon trough as well as approach of Western Disturbance. However, even during that time, rains will not be widespread and only patchy showers will be observed.
