andhra pradesh post

Rains have been playing hide and seek with Andhra Pradesh and therefore the state has failed to record very good spells from past couple of days.

Talking about the recent downpours, interior region of the state has witnessed few wet spells. However, the coastal region of the state was lashed by some heavy showers.

During last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Thursday, Vishakhapatnam observed whopping rains of 46 mm seconded by Nandigama that witnessed hefty showers of 40 mm. Ongole observed 30.3 mm of rain and Kavali observed 29 mm rainfall.

Other regions that witnessed moderate rains include Vijayawada with 18.2 mm showers, Nellore recorded 16.2 mm rains and Bapatla with 7 mm spells.

The rains over the state of Andhra Pradesh can be attributed to a cyclonic circulation that persists over west central Bay off Andhra Pradesh coast. Further, this system is likely to intensify into a Low Pressure Area.

Further, rainfall is likely to intensify along the Andhra Pradesh coast and Telangana. This weather system is expected to move northwestwards.

Due to this, moderate spells with isolated heavy showers are expected over most parts of Andhra Pradesh coast for another 24-48 hours. The interior region of the state is also likely to witness light to moderate rains.

At present, rainfall observed by Coastal Andhra Pradesh is 11 percent lesser than it’s normal. However, possibility of rains over the state is expected to curtail down the rainfall statistics to some extent.
