Vidarbha has been receiving on and off rains since the beginning of July. So much so that the region has recorded surplus rains. As of now, this sub-division of Maharashtra has observed a rainfall surplus of a good 13 percent.

To top it all, good Monsoon rains continue to lash the Vidarbha region. While the other sub-divisions of Maharashtra have only been recording light rainfall barring a few areas of Konkan where good rains have been observed.

During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Friday, Chandrapur recorded three digit rains of 130.2 mm rain. Also, good rains have been observed over Yavatmal at 109.4 mm, Bramhapuri 92.6 mm, Wardha 83.6 mm, and Amravati 46.4 mm rainfall.

These rains can be attributed to the low pressure area which is lingering over Madhya Pradesh region. Due to this weather system, heavy rains have caused floods over many districts of Madhya Pradesh. Bhopal recorded a good 111 mm of rain in 6 hours.

Now, during the next 24 hours, good rains are likely to continue over Vidarbha. In fact, these rains will help in increasing the rainfall surplus to quite an extent. However, after 24 hours, rains will witness a decrease in the coming days.
