The state of Maharashtra has been witnessing on and off Monsoon rains. While the coastal areas have been witnessing heavy to very heavy showers with three-digit rainfall in several parts, rains have been good enough for the state.
Several cities including Pune, Nashik, Kolhapur as well as other areas have been witnessing good showers. While these rains aren’t as heavy as in the coastal regions, these weather conditions have been keeping temperatures under check.

The last 24 hours have been rainy enough for these areas. In fact, in a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Thursday, Nashik recorded 17 mm, Pune 17 mm, Kolhapur 18 mm. Other areas to have received good rains include Satara 10 mm, Sangli 3 mm, Ahmadnagar 2 mm.
These weather conditions are attributed to the Monsoon surge which is active over West Coast. Although the hills over the Western Ghats restricted the flow of moist winds towards the interior parts, light to moderate rains do continue over the region during the Monsoon season when the coastal areas are lashed by torrential rains.
