The state of Telangana is one of the meteorological divisions which normally receives lesser rainfall throughout the year in comparison to rainfall amounts in areas including Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Vidarbha.
Even during the Pre-Monsoon season, both temperatures and humidity remain high leading to widespread heatwave conditions over the entire state. In fact, the state remains one of the hottest pockets during the Pre-Monsoon season. However, conditions change during the onset of the Southwest Monsoon over the state.
This year, Monsoon has remained fairly good over Telangana so far. In fact, at present the state is observing a rainfall surplus of 20 percent. However, during the last two to three days, rains remained scanty over Telangana. So much so that during last 24 hours, only 0.1 mm rain has been observed against the average rains of 7.9 mm.
Now, this weather condition is expected to change. A fresh cyclonic circulation is expected to form over west-central Bay of Bengal. When the system moves inland, moderate to heavy rain will occur over Telangana around July 20 and 21. During this period, Hyderabad may also receive good rains.
These rains will help Telangana in increasing the rainfall surplus. In fact, as per Skymet Weather, Telangana may end up with above normal Monsoon rains which is a good sign for this area as normally Telangana is drought prone and remains parched most of the time.
