Good Monsoon rains in sight for Madhya Pradesh

The deep depression over coastal parts of Gangetic West Bengal has moved northwestwards and seen over Jharkhand and neighbouring approximately present 110km northeast of Ranchi. This system is likely to move in a North-Northwest direction and weaken into a depression in next 24 hours.

As the system is moving in a west-northwestward and is expected to approach East Madhya Pradesh within next 24 hours as depression.

Intensification of rain over almost all the North and East Madhya Pradesh is likely to increase. Fairly widespread moderate rain with gusty winds is also expected to prevail over the region. Isolated extremely heavy spells of rain cannot be ruled out. Southwest parts of the state are also expected to be cloudy with light rain spells will prevail for 24 hours.

In the last 24 hours, various places of the state received rainfall of varied intensity. Gwalior received 15.1 mm of rainfall, Jabalpur 18.8 mm, Khajuraho 46 mm, Rewa 36.4 mm, Sagar 6.8 mm, Satna 5 mm, Seoni 24.2 mm and Umaria recorded 9.5 mm of rains.

For the Monsoon season staring from June 1 till date, West Madhya Pradesh recorded 790.8 mm of rainfall against the normal rainfall of 577.2 m of rains. This makes the subdivision to stand at 37% excess rainfall.

The story is similar for the same time period when it comes to East Madhya Pradesh; the subdivision has received 918.9 mm of rains against the normal rainfall of 705.7 mm. The region is presently enjoying at 30% excess rainfall.
