Good Monsoon rains in offing for Andhra Pradesh, Telangana

Monsoon has been rather slow in gathering pace over East Coast of India. But with a formation of a low-pressure area over west central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal off South Odisha and North Andhra Pradesh, good rains are expected over the region.

This weather system has given fairly widespread moderate rains over coastal Andhra Pradesh during last 24 hours. This low-pressure area is expected to move in west and northwest direction. Chances are that it may intensify into a well-marked low-pressure area.

The system will continue to give moisture that will aggravate heavy rain over coastal Andhra Pradesh, parts of South Odisha, South Chhattisgarh for next 24 hours.

Gradually by today evening, good rainfall activity will commence over Telangana. And by tomorrow Vidarbha and Marathwada will receive moderate rain at many places few heavy spells at one or two places.

Currently, Coastal Andhra Pradesh is witnessing excess rains with 53% rain surplus, whereas Rayalaseema is 72% rain surplus. Telangana is witnessing normal rain rainfall with 15% rain surplus.

By the end of June, Telangana will also get excess rains due to this system. Telangana, Marathwada and Vidarbha can receive one or two extremely heavy rain spells on June 28-29. This weather system will continue to move in a westerly direction and rain intensity will increase over Madhya Maharashtra, Konkan & Goa by June 29.

As the system strengthens over Maharashtra, the intensity of rain will decrease over coastal Andhra Pradesh.
