Good Monsoon rains in Madhya Maharashtra and South Konkan, light showers in Vidarbha and Marathwada

At present, the Southwest Monsoon is active over South Konkan and Goa, while it is normal over the North Konkan region. Remaining parts of Maharashtra is reeling under subdued Monsoon conditions.

In the past 24 hours, Konkan and Goa has received light to moderate rains with a few heavy spells. Meanwhile, scattered light to moderate rains was observed in Madhya Maharashtra. The region of Vidarbha too got to see a few good spells of rain. However, the weather of Marathwada remained almost dry.

Talking about the rainfall data, Ratnagiri has recorded 77 mm of rain, followed by Mahabaleshwar 57 mm, Vengurla 37 mm, Harnai 35 mm, Wardha 26 mm, Kolhapur 21 mm, Satara 19 mm and Santa Cruz (Mumbai) 16 mm, in the last 24 hours, from 8:30 am on Sunday.

According to Skymet Weather, a Cyclonic Circulation is over North Madhya Maharashtra. This system will give good rains in Madhya Maharashtra during the next 48 hours. Meanwhile, light to moderate rains will continue over Konkan and Goa. Chances of isolated heavy spells over the southern districts of the Konkan region cannot be ruled out.

The region of Marathwada may observe scattered light rains for the next two days. Thereafter, the intensity may increase and rains with varying intensity will continue until July 27 here.

On the contrary, the weather of Vidarbha will remain dry with isolated light rains until July 24. Thereafter, the region may get to see some good Monsoon showers.

Mumbai and adjoining areas may observe good showers between July 24 and 28. During this period, there is a possibility of a few heavy spells as well which may lead to water-logging and traffic jams at many places.
