Monsoon 2017 has covered the entire West Coast including Konkan and Goa, Coastal Maharashtra along with the towns close to the Karnataka Coast.
In fact, in the past few days, there have been numerous areas which saw good Monsoon rains with few places recording three-digit rains.
In a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Thursday, Vengurla witnessed 53 mm of rainfall followed by Ratnagiri where 45 mm rain was recorded. Other regions that have received good rains include Karwar 37 mm, Honavar 30 mm, Panjim 25 mm and Mangalore 19 mm.

These weather conditions can be attributed to the active Monsoon surge as well as the feeble off shore trough running along the West Coast from Karnataka to Kerala coast. Due to this, moisture incursion has been taking place causing good rains over the region.
As per Weathermen at Skymet, North Konkan including Mumbai and coastal divisions of Gujarat will see subdued rains for the next 24 to 48 hours, while moderate to heavy showers will continue to lash South Konkan region.

In fact, this rain activity will also reduce. On the contrary, the coasts of Karnataka and Kerala will continue to see moderate rain and thundershowers over many places.
A fresh surge is expected to enhance the weather activities over the region after 48 to 72 hours. Thus once again the Monsoon rains will pick up pace pouring heavy to very heavy rainfall along the West Coast.
