Intense rain and thundershowers were seen over major parts of Delhi and NCR in the wee hours of August 15. Yesterday, the maximum temperature settled at 34.8 degrees Celsius, a notch above normal, while the minimum was recorded at 26.6 degrees Celsius, and the humidity levels oscillated between 81 and 66 percent.

At present, the Well-Marked Low-Pressure Area is over Northeast Rajasthan. This system will now move in the north/northwest direction and will weaken gradually. While the Axis of Monsoon Trough is running from West Rajasthan up to Northeast Bay of Bengal across North Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Gangetic West Bengal. While the Low-Pressure Area is embedded over this Axis of Monsoon Trough.

Hence, we expect one or two intense thundershowers in Delhi and NCR today during late afternoon or evening hours.

The interaction of the Western Disturbance - over North Pakistan - with the Well-Marked Low-Pressure Area and the Axis of Monsoon Trough will be responsible for giving moderate to heavy rains over Delhi and NCR on August 17. The intensity of rains will be more over the western parts of Delhi and NCR particularly parts of Haryana and North Rajasthan. Amidst this, Delhi will also get one or two heavy spells in pockets with chances of widespread rains.

Sky will be cloudy to overcast with day temperature below 30 degrees Celsius. Although on Sunday, August 18, rains will reduce significantly with a marginal rise in temperature, the weather will still be comfortable.
