The last 24 hours were no different and many parts of both the states of Jharkhand as well as West Bengal witnessed good monsoon rainfall activity.
In fact, in a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday, Jamshedpur witnessed 26 mm of rain, Purulia 13 mm, Burdwan 7 mm, and Midnapore 2 mm. Traces of rainfall were also witnessed over Kolkata during the same time frame.
These weather conditions are attributed to the presence of a low-pressure area which is currently lying over North West Bay of Bengal off the Odisha coast. Thus, moisture incursion will increase over the region resulting in cloud development and rains.
This weather system is expected to give light to moderate showers over parts of South Jharkhand including Ranchi, Jamshedpur and Bokaro. Not only this, parts of West Bengal including Bankura Shanti Niketan, Kolkata and Purulia will also witness a few good spells of monsoon showers.
