The Konkan and Goa region has had a good Monsoon season so far. While rains did remain far and few over many parts of the country but on and off showers with the occasional heavy spells of rains did continue over the region.

Along with this, the Coastal Karnataka also received a few good spells of rains with isolated three digit rains in the last few days.

The last 24 hours were also rainy enough and while three digit rains were not observed, heavy rainfall activity was observed along the West Coast. In a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday, Mahabaleshwar recorded a whopping 85 mm of rain, followed by Honavar where75.8 mm of rainfall.

Other areas that received good rains include Vengurla 23 mm, Thane 43 mm, Mangalore 50 mm, Panjim 23 mm, Karwar 16.2 mm, Mumbai 18 mm, Alibag 13 mm and Dahanu 13 mm.

The reason for good rains over the region can be attributed to the offshore trough which is running from Gujarat to the Kerala Coast.

As per weathermen at Skymet Weather, moderate showers are expected to continue over both Konkan and Goa and Coastal Karnataka. The possibility of isolated heavy spells cannot be ruled out as well. However, rain intensity will reduce over Kerala after 24 hours and only light rains are expected over the region.
