This spell of rainfall could be attributed to the several weather systems. There is a low pressure area seen over South Pakistan and adjoining Southwest Rajasthan. Along with that, we can see an upper air cyclonic circulation at mid tropospheric levels.

At present, Gujarat is rain deficient to the tune of 28%. More rains are likely over the state during next couple of days. Thus, the situation is now favorable for the rain deficiency to mitigate. During next 24 hours, rainfall will continue over the state. Thereafter, rains will reduce in almost the entire state barring North Gujarat.
Last year Southwest Monsoon demonstrated an extremely poor performance over the country. Gujarat was one of the worst performing region with a very high rainfall deficiency. However, this year we can expect overall normal rains over the state. On and off rains will countinue in Gujarat durimng rest of the Southwest Monsoon season.
