Good Monsoon rains bless parts of North India

The northern plains of India were observing dry weather conditions from past many days. The on and off light rains that occurred also failed to provide relief from hot weather.

However, things changed during last 24 hours as widespread rains occurred over most parts of northern India. Particularly Haryana and Delhi witnessed moderate to heavy showers at a few places. Owing to good rains, the maximum temperature in several areas took a dip of almost 4-5 degrees Celcius that was a huge relief to residents.

A cyclonic circulation that persists over West Rajasthan was pulling up the moist winds from the Arabian Sea. This weather system shifted northwards and lied over Haryana and adjoining areas. Thus, it gave good rains over the northern parts of the country.

Moreover, Western Disturbance that persists over central parts of Rajasthan is likely to move in northeast direction. This would start affecting the weather of North India soon.

Axis of Monsoon trough which is at present over central Rajasthan is also likely to move towards north. Therefore, rain intensity is also likely to increase over northern plains of North Rajasthan, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh.

Parts of Haryana and Punjab are also expected to receive scattered light to moderate showers. Now another fresh spell of rains is expected for another 2 or 3 days.

During last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Monday, rainfall observed over most parts of North India is displayed in the table below:
