Rain In DelhiIn a huge relief from hot weather to Delhiites, prolonged spell of good Monsoon showers are approaching Delhi. This will also put an end to the long dry spell in the national capital that has not recorded any rainfall since the beginning of September.

According to Skymet Meteorology Division in India, fairly widespread rain and thundershower activities will begin over the city after next 48 hours, with isolated heavy showers. Rainfall with varying intensity is expected to last for at least four to five days.

As per Skymet, combination of two weather systems will be responsible for causing rain over Delhi. A well-marked low pressure area, which is presently lying over Chhattisgarh, Odisha and adjoining Bay of Bengal, will travel westwards up to Gujarat across parts of Central India. This will interact with the approaching Western Disturbance over the hilly region of North India.

In absence of any weather activity, both maximum and minimum temperatures witnessed significant increase. On Tuesday, Delhi had recorded maximum temperature of 39°C that has been the highest during the span of last 10 years in September.
