Parts of Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema received heavy rains under the impact of Monsoon trough extending from Lakshdweep to Telangana. Good rains are expected to continue for another 5-6 days in the region due to a possible low pressure area in the Bay of Bengal.
Decent rainfall that occurred over several parts of Andhra Pradesh in last 24 hours include Visakhapatnam 22 mm, Vijaywada 23 mm, Kalingapatnam 59 mm, Machilipatnam 30 mm and Anantapur 26.5 mm.
Apart from Andhra Pradesh, parts of Telangana and Rayalaseema also received light Monsoon showers in the same span.
The Monsoon trough will continue to give rain over these parts for next one to two days. After which a low pressure system is likely to brew in the Bay of Bengal which will begin to influence the weather and give moderate rain over Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Scattered light rain will also be observed over Rayalaseema.
The rains are likely to satiate the need of water in the rain deficit Rayalaseema and Telangana and bring down the rainfall deficiency, marginally.
