Good Monsoon Rain lashes South Rajasthan

August 23, 2016 4:58 PM | Skymet Weather Team

The state of Rajasthan has been witnessing on and off rains. These Monsoon rains can be attributed to the low pressure which is currently present over North Madhya Pradesh and adjoining East Rajasthan region along with a well-marked Low Pressure Area which can be seen over Southwest Rajasthan and adjoining Gujarat. The axis of Monsoon trough is currently passing through Phalodi, centre of low pressure area over Southeast Rajasthan, Datia, centre of well-marked low pressure area over Northeast Madhya Pradesh, Ranchi, Digha and further towards Northeast Bay of Bengal.

In the last 24 hour, light to moderate rains have been recorded over southeast parts of Rajasthan wherein Chittorgarh recorded 25 mm of rainfall, followed by Udaipur 15.1, Pali 20 mm, Kota 8 mm and Tonk 7.3 mm of Monsoon showers.

Thus, we expect moderate rainfall activity with isolated heavy spells over southern and eastern parts of Rajasthan for next 24 to 48 hours as well.  Northern and central districts of the state may also receive some rains. Temperatures over most parts of the state are expected to fall a bit.

At present, the state of Rajasthan is already witnessing surplus rains and these showers will only increase the figures. East Rajasthan has already received excess Monsoon rains with the figure reaching up to 48% surplus rainfall. Possibilities of flooding conditions in few areas cannot be ruled out.
