From the time when Southwest Monsoon entered into the country, Gujarat somehow remained left out from all the rainfall activity. The state is one of the driest states during this Monsoon till now. Gujarat region is presently at a rain deficiency of 47% whereas Saurashtra and Kutch region is rain deficient by 59%.
But due to the strong and promising Monsoon advancements we now expect that these rainfall figures will improve to some extent. The state even experienced good rains in last 24 hours. For instance, Idar recorded 96 mm of rainfall, Rajkot 64 mm, Gandhinagar 30 mm, Porbandar 22 mm and Vadodara 17 mm of rainfall.
We now expect that North Gujarat, particularly Mehsana, Palanpur, Himatnagar and Patan, will receive good rains for another 24 hours. Light scattered rain will occur over rest parts of the Saurashtra and Kutch.
After 24 hours, this rain belt is expected to shift towards Rajasthan and rain intensity will reduce over Gujarat.
Monsoon has covered the entire country including Gujarat. The northern districts of Gujarat did not receive any major amount of rainfall till now but the recent rain will be very much helpful for the farmers of the region in terms of Kharif crop.
