Delhiites had been craving for some good spells of rainfall to get rid of the hot and humid weather that had been causing discomfort and uneasiness over the national capital. Rain gods did listen to the plight of Delhiites and good showers did make an appearance over the national capital on the auspicious day of Raksha Bandhan.
The last 24 hours were quite rainy for the national capital wherein good showers were seen in many parts of Delhi as well as the NCR region. In a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Monday, the Safdarjung observatory recorded a good 29.6 mm of rainfall. Moderate showers were also witnessed at the Palam observatory where 15 mm rains were witnessed.

These showers can be attributed to the downward shift of the axis of Monsoon trough. The axis is now passing through Amritsar and Delhi which is why rainfall intensity as well as spread did increase in the last 24 hours.

As per weathermen at Skymet Weather, the trough will continue to persist which is why good showers are expected to continue today as well. In fact, the next 24 hours are expected to remain rainy for the national capital.
Due to these ongoing rainfall activities, the maximum as well as minimum temperatures are expected to come down and weather conditions will remain pleasant.
