Goa, Mumbai, Honavar, Ratnagiri to witness heavy Monsoon rains

The rainfall activity along the West Coast has significantly increased over time. Active to vigorous Monsoon conditions were observed along the West Coast. Konkan and Goa region, Kerala and Karnataka coast witnessed extremely heavy showers in the past day.

Rainfall activity has also increased over the city of dreams Mumbai. In the last 24 hours from 8.30 am on Friday, Santacrucz Observatory in Mumbai witnessed heavy rain of 90 mm, Colaba Observatory 39 mm and adjoining city of Thane witnessed heavy rain of 76 mm. In the same span of time, Honavar recorded 71 mm of heavy rain, Goa 42 mm, Ratnagiri 31 mm, Harnai 27 mm, Karwar 22.4 mm, Mangalore 13.2 mm, Dahanu 17 mm, Madikeri 12 and Alappuzha 6 mm of rain.

These hefty rains can be attributed to the off shore trough which is extending from South Gujarat coast to Kerala Coast. It is anticipated that Monsoon activity is likely to remain vigorous over northern parts of Konkan and South Gujarat.

Meanwhile, active Monsoon conditions are likely South Konkan region, Kerala and Karnataka Coast. Moderate to heavy intensity rains are likely to continue for the next 48 hours. It is expected that many regions along the West Coast including Mumbai may record three digits of heavy rains. Weather Conditions are pleasant across the coastal line in the west and temperatures are below normal.
