Mumbaikars would bid adieu to Lord Ganesha amidst light rains today. There are chances of some intense spells during late evening hours, however, these would not cause any major disturbance in the celebrations.

The intensity of Mumbai rains remained mainly light during the last 24 hours. However, some localities managed to receive short intense spells of rain during late evening or night hours.

Since today morning, on and off drizzles have been going in parts of the dream city, coupled with cloudy sky conditions.

The meteorologists at Skymet have predicted an increase in the intensity of rain today, with intermittent rain and thundershowers expected to occur. Some short intense spells may also appear during evening hours in the city and suburbs. However, as these showers would not be very heavy, we do not expect any severe waterlogging and thus no major disturbance in ‘Ganpati Visarjan’.

A further increase in the intensity is expected around September 13 and 14, wherein moderate Mumbai rains would reappear. Some heavy spells cannot be ruled out during that time, thus leading to waterlogging in the low-lying areas. However, these showers would be short-lived and the rainfall activities would once again start decreasing by the evening of September 15.

According to Weathermen, this may be the last good spell of rain for Mumbai and suburbs for this Monsoon season. Moreover, as Monsoon arrived late, the withdrawal is also expected to be delayed by at least a week.
