Southwest Monsoon has been giving good rains over central and eastern parts of the country. Multiple Monsoon systems have been pounding heavy to very heavy rains over the region. While Madhya Pradesh has been reeling under heavy rains, Uttar Pradesh has also not been left far behind.
As per ANI, River Ganga in Allahabad has crossed the danger levels. So much so that water has entered residential areas in the city. Satna in Madhya Pradesh also witnessed a similar situation as several houses were filled with water.
In the Allahabad district, heavy rains have claimed two lives. Also, about a hundred villages in trans-Yamuna and Ganga regions. Across the state of Uttar Pradesh, 11 lives have been lost so far due to flooding rains.
In Bundelkhand, in just about a day, hundreds of mud houses have collapsed killing at least five people. A house also collapsed in Kanpur rural killing four people.
Due to heavy rains in Sonbhadra, five gates of the Rihand dam had to be opened as rain water had accumulated. Due to the water release, many areas in Chopan have been flooded and low lying areas of Bihar are likely to become flooded.
During the next 24 hours, light rain is expected to continue over the state of Uttar Pradesh. However, rainfall intensity is likely to increase around August 22 as another weather system is likely to develop in North Bay of Bengal. Thus, the situation is not expected to improve anytime soon.
