As had been forecast earlier by Skymet, East and Central parts of Uttar Pradesh received heavy rains in the last 24 hours. While Fursatganj recorded a whopping 131 mm, Lucknow received 66 mm of rains. With this, Fursatganj has been the rainiest city in the country for the past 24 hours.

Also, other districts like that of Allahabad recorded 41.3 mm, Bareilly received 43.6 mm, Hardoi 11.4 mm, Kanpur 22.5 mm and Varanasi saw 21.2 mm of rains.

The state of Uttar Pradesh is experiencing on and off rains since the past few days now. Particularly, the eastern parts of Uttar Pradesh have been receiving good rains for the last two days.

At present, a Low-Pressure Area is over Southeast Uttar Pradesh and adjoining areas. Therefore, we expect, good rains to continue over eastern and central districts of Uttar Pradesh for today and tomorrow. Thereafter, rains will begin over western districts as well. Although the rain intensity over West will remain less in comparison to eastern and central districts.

Now, we can say that on and off rains will continue over many parts of Uttar Pradesh for at least next one week or so. The intensity will be slightly more Southern and Southeast districts of the state which will receive moderate to heavy rains. Places like that of Sultanpur, Varanasi, and Allahabad will get to see such rains.

So, this week is turning out to be good for Uttar Pradesh. However, we do not expect flooding activities over the state during this rain episode as the possibility of any very heavy rains is ruled out as of now.
