A fresh Western Disturbance is approaching the hilly region of North India and is presently marked over North Pakistan and adjoining areas. This is the second consecutive system to affect the region in April.
According to Skymet Weather, this system has already started affecting the weather over the region Saturday onwards.
Fairly widespread light to moderate rain and thundershowers has occured over Jammu and Kashmir during the last 24 hours and it is likely to intensify further.
Himachal Pradesh will also receive some rainfall during this period.
During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday, Banihal recorded 13 mm of rain, Srinagar and Qazi Gund 2 mm each, and Jammu 1 mm.
Adjoining areas of Punjab are also likely to witness light to moderate weather activity. One or two places of Haryana may also see some isolated showers.
While, Uttarakhand will receive rain over few places only but rains will pick up pace on April 10 and 11.
The present Western Disturbance is not very strong in nature, however, it will give light to moderate rain and thundershowers for next 24 to 48 hours.
Intensity of rain is expected to reduce significantly by April 11 night but remnants of the system will continue to give isolated activity over the hilly states.
The passage of the system will also lead to rise in minimum temperatures across Northwest India including Delhi. However, no major change is likely in the maximum temperatures.
