Hills of North India have been witnessing dry weather conditions for close to two weeks now. This dry weather can be attributed to the absence of any significant weather system over the region.

Although there have been series of Western Disturbances but either have been travelling high latitudes or not have been active in nature. However, we are expecting another Western Disturbance over Jammu and Kashmir, which would start affecting the region by October 31.

Under its influence, sky will become cloudy over the region tomorrow onwards and we can expect light to moderate rains and thundershowers over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on November 1.

While the medium and lowers region like Srinagar, Manali, Shimla, Dharamshala, Nainital would settle with rains, higher reaches of the state stand a chance of snowfall.

Hindu Shrine of Vaishno Devi would also see spells of rains along with some cold winds from October 31 to November 2.

Some activity could also be seen over the foothills of Punjab and Haryana, but the intensity would be less as compared to the hilly region.

As per weathermen, the northwestern plains would not see any direct impact of the system in terms of rain but it would be successful in changing the wind pattern. Thus, we can expect marginal decrease in the temperatures over Punjab, Haryana and Delhi NCR.

The number of Western Disturbances starts increasing with the beginning of October. Not only this, these systems also gain strength both in terms of intensity as well as they start travelling in lower latitudes. The frequency starts increasing gradually as we progress further towards winter season.
