Fresh Western Disturbance affects North India A fresh Western Disturbance is affecting North India and is presently prevailing over North Pakistan and adjoining Jammu and Kashmir region. According to Skymet Meteorology Division in India, the system is moving eastward and has caused clouding over the entire region including the plains.

The system is expected to bring widespread snowfall over the higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand during the next 24 hours. While the middle and lower regions of these hilly states will witness rain.

Srinagar will still remain devoid of snowfall and will have to wait for next spell, which will be approaching very shortly.

Plains of North India including Punjab, Delhi, Western Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and adjoining parts of North Rajasthan might also see some rain after next 48 hours.

In the view of the system, cold day conditions which have been prevailing over the region for last two days will continue as maximum temperatures are not expected to rise due to clouding. While minimum temperatures will see a marginal rise.

Western Disturbances become frequent during winters and are responsible for affecting the weather in the region to a large extent. These systems after approaching the region usually stay for 1-2 days and give short spells of rain. The system is called Western Disturbance due to its movement from west to east.
