A fresh weather system can be seen brewing over the Bay of Bengal. There is an upper air cyclonic circulation lying over southwest Bay of Bengal off Tamil Nadu Coast, which is extending up to 0.9 km above the mean sea level.

The cyclonic circulation over Kerala and adjoining coastal area is likely to shift gradually towards the eastern direction. It will finally merge with the circulation near the north coast of Tamil Nadu. Therefore, rainfall may intensify in some more parts of southern Tamil Nadu and along the coast.

Skymet Weather predicts that rain will mainly be light in nature and isolated places could receive moderate rains over the next 24 hours. The northern parts of the state will remain mainly dry and humid.

Chennai will witness partly cloudy to cloudy sky with chances of light rains.

During last 24 hours, mainly dry weather condition was observed in most parts of Tamil Nadu, expect for the northern hills where light rains were witnessed in pockets.

Officially, Northeast Monsoon begins from the month of October. However, this year we haven’t seen Northeast Monsoon-like rains in the Peninsular India so far. Therefore, we can say that Northeast Monsoon is expected to remain slightly below normal in the month of October.
