After the passage of Cyclone Kyant, another weather system has developed over east central Bay of Bengal. It is presently seen as a cyclonic circulation and is likely to intensify gradually.
According to Skymet Weather, the system will move in westerly direction towards North Tamil Nadu coast. Weathermen predict circulation to strengthen into a low pressure area by November 1. Thereafter, it may further intensify but we will have to wait and watch for the development.
In wake of this, wind pattern has already changed. Northeasterly winds will soon commence over Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. This will also mark the onset of Northeast Monsoon.
With system intensifying and nearing the land, coastal areas of Tamil Nadu inclduing Chennai and adjoining South Andhra coast will start recording light to moderate rains and thundershowers by November 3.
We expecting rain activity to increase both in terms of intensity and spread over both the regions by November 4.
Northeast Monsoon is a three-month long season spanning from October to December. The season generally sets in by October 20, however, it has been delayed this year.
States like Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh records majority of their annual rainfall during this time period. So far, we have not seen any significant rain activity over the region. October is likely to end with deficit rainfall but we expect, November to fare well as rains will pick up pace.
