Mumbai rains were quite intense on June 9, wherein the Colaba observatory recorded a whopping 164 mm of rainfall followed by 100 mm of rains in Santa Cruz observatory. Several areas were waterlogged on that day.

Thereafter, rainfall activity witnessed quite a reduction and rainfall has remained on the backseat. Moreover, weather has remained warm and humid in Mumbai due to which residents have been asking for some rains over the region.

The only relief is the sea breeze which has been providing some respite from the ongoing weather conditions. These winds begin blowing during the afternoon hours and continue until evening.

For now, rains will remain on the backseat for the next 24 to 36 hours. However, a fresh spell of Monsoon rains is expected around the weekend. Rains will remain on the lighter side on June 16 thereby increasing on June 17. Thus, moderate to heavy rainfall activity can be seen over the City of Dreams on that day.

Thereafter, rainfall activity may pick up pace once again and some heavy showers may be seen on June 18.

The off shore trough which usually gives rains over Mumbai has become less marked. Presently, a cyclonic circulation is seen in the mid levels at about 15000-20000 feet in the East-central Arabian Sea area. This circulation is expected to become more marked, trickle downward and move closer to the coast due to which Mumbai rains will revive again.
