Ahmedabad and adjoining districts had been receiving heavy to extremely heavy rainfall between July 20 and 28. Later on, these rains reduced and dry and warm weather conditions prevailed over the region. However, light rains were seen over the region during this time.
But in last two days, these on and off light rains have picked up pace. So much so, that these rains will bring in the much needed relief to the residents of Ahmedabad and adjoining districts. In span of last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Monday, Ahmedabad recorded mere 2 mm of rainfall.
These weather conditions can be attributed to a cyclonic circulation which is seen persisting over South Pakistan and adjoining Southwest Rajasthan. With this, moderate to strong winds are likely from the Arabian Sea, which will eventually increase the moisture incursion and lead to cloud formation over parts of Gujarat.
Hence, light rains along with moderate spells at few isolated places are expected to occur over Ahmedabad and adjoining districts for the next three to four days.
