Another Western Disturbance is likely to affect the Western Himalayan region from the 27th of December. The system will affect weather in terms of clouding, rain and snowfall in the higher reaches of Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. This fresh Western Disturbance will also bring isolated rain and thundershowers over Punjab and Haryana. There is some good news for tourists who are waiting for more snowfall over Shimla, Kulu, Manali and Lahaul Spiti.
The system is expected to cause clouding and pull down maximum temperatures by few notches. Our weather experts at Skymet predict that night temperatures may increase by at least 2 degrees in Punjab and Haryana.
In view of this system, a low level cyclonic circulation is affecting the normal wind pattern in the plains. Icy cold north westerly winds in the northern plains will be replaced by south easterly winds. Fog in Delhi and North India has improved significantly as compared to the last week but visibility conditions may worsen due to change in the direction of winds. Shallow to moderate fog may commence very soon.
