Another active Western Disturbance is all set to give a fresh spell of rain and snow in the northern hills. The system may reach the Western Himalayas anytime now and start giving rain and snow.
Light to moderate showers with isolated heavy spells are likely in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. There are chances of snowfall over the upper reaches of these states. Meanwhile, the lower areas may see rain and thundershowers with a possibility of snowfall in Nainital, Mussoorie and adjoining area owing to the low temperatures.
Other famous tourist attractions like Shimla, Kullu, Manali, Srinagar, Gulmarg and Chamba may also see light to moderate activities during the next 48 hours.
The system would not be as active and intense as the previous one and thus any major disruption is not likely. Hence, you can pack your bags and head to the hills if you want to enjoy skiing or other snow-sports. However, some precaution must be exercised as minor hindrances like road blockage cannot be ruled out.
Irrespective of the intensity, visiting the hills during fresh rain and snow can be a little risky. The region is also prone to inclement weather activities. Thus, from bag packing essentials to the safety precautions like first aid, one must always keep things in mind while planning a hill station trip.
