Ever since the passage of Cyclone Roanu, Kolkata has been witnessing on and off rain and thundershowers. However, rains have remained absent for the last four days paving way for hot and humid weather.
Now, pre-Monsoon showers are likely to revisit the city of joy once again. According to Skymet Weather, weather conditions are quite conducive for the fresh spell of rain, thundershowers or thunderstorm in span of next 2-3 days. Isolated dust storms activities are also likely.
Presently a cyclonic circulation is marked over Gangetic West Bengal. In addition to this, an east-west trough is also extending all along the Indo-Gangetic plains including Kolkata. Both the systems combined together will bring rain over the city from May 28 to May 30.
As reiterated by Skymet Weather, these pre-Monsoon activity will occur during late afternoon or evening hours. These showers are generally triggered by heat coupled with available moisture in the air. Maximum temperatures peak between 12 pm and 2 pm, thus activity take place after that only.
These showers are much needed as they will bring immense relief from the sultry weather conditions. Though day maximums have been settling several notches above the normal average, but it is the high humidity which make feel-like temperature quite high.
Night temperatures are also settling above average in high 20s.
