Fresh Monsoon system in Bay to bring more rains

July 9, 2016 8:40 AM |

Fresh Monsoon system in Bay to bring more rains During the Southwest Monsoon season, several Monsoon systems develop in both the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea. However, the Bay of Bengal is more active and quite a number of weather systems develop during this period.

As reiterated by Skymet Weather, under the influence of a cyclogenesis, a cyclonic circulation has formed in the Bay of Bengal in northwest Bay of Bengal off the West Bengal and the Odisha coast. Widespread clouding has been seen in parts of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha in association of the weather system.

While the previous system in the Bay of Bengal did intensify into a depression, the present weather system is not likely to undergo such intensification due to the presence of Typhoon Nepartak in the West Pacific ocean.

In fact, during the next 48 hours, the system may move inland as a cyclonic circulation without much intensification. Also, the previous weather system still lingers in the Madhya Pradesh area. Thus, both the systems are likely to merge with one another.

The system is also expected to have some interaction with the moving Western Disturbance due to which some rainfall activity is expected over the Northern Plains including Delhi-NCR, Haryana and West Uttar Pradesh.

During the next 48 hours, central parts of the country including Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra along with parts of Telangana are likely to receive good rains. Under the system’s influence, the rainfall activity over West Coast is also expected to pick up pace.
