Southwest Monsoon has been bringing Monsoon rains of varying intensity over Andhra Pradesh for the last couple of days. Particularly the coastal areas of the state have received good rains. Moreover, it seems like the rains will continue for next 24 to 48 hours as well.

Vijayawada in Coastal Andhra Pradesh received very good showers during last 24 hours. The coastal city recorded 72 mm of rainfall. Bapatla also recorded 21 mm of rainfall, Tirupati 12 mm, Visakhapatnam also 7.6 mm, Ongole 5 mm and Machilipatnam 4 mm of rains.

Kurnool in the interiors of Andhra Pradesh also recorded heavy showers to the tune of 78 mm during last 24 hours.

This ongoing spell of rainfall could be attributed to the persisting Monsoon system which is now lying over westcentral Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas of North Coastal Andhra Pradesh. The system is likely to move in a west direction. Moreover, a North-South trough is expected to form from Bihar to Telangana.

The Monsoon system will continue to give light to moderate rains over Coastal Andhra Pradesh along with the interiors of Rayalaseema for the next 2 days.

The rain belt will also cover parts of Telangana during this time period. North Telangana will receive heavy rains at many places during next 48 hours.
