The low-pressure area, which was over Kutch and adjoining Rajasthan is now over Northwest Rajasthan and its adjoining areas. The system will move in a northerly direction and will further merge with the Western Disturbance, which is lying close to Jammu and Kashmir. This will further result in fairly widespread rain over Punjab, West Rajasthan and Jammu and Kashmir for the next 24 hours.
After 24 hours, rain will be confined to Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and northern parts of Punjab.

The depression over South Gujarat that drastically weakened into a low pressure area yesterday is slated to intensify again into a well marked low pressure area in next 24 hours. As the system intensifies and simultaneously shifts towards Rajasthan, rain intensity is likely to pick up over parts of West Rajasthan. Meanwhile, parts of Kutch and Gujarat region will continue to receive light to moderate Monsoon showers.
The system is likely to intensify for a short duration due to the moist winds coming from the Arabian Sea.

The well-marked low over South Gujarat and its adjoining areas has further weakened into a low pressure area. The system is most likely to become insignificant by next 48 hours. While weakening, the system will continue to give fairly widespread rain over Saurashtra region, Kutch, Haryana, parts of Rajasthan, Delhi-NCR and a few areas in Punjab.
Updated on September 20, 2015, 12:00 PM (IST): Depression over South Gujarat weakens into a well marked low
The depression, which was lying over South Gujarat and adjoining areas has weakened into a well-marked low pressure area. At present the system is over Saurashtra and its neighbouring areas. It will gradually weaken and move in a northerly direction. The system will continue to affect Saurashtra and Kutch for another 24 to 48 hours.
Thereafter, the rain belt will shift towards West Rajasthan, resulting in fairly widespread rain over Haryana and Rajasthan on September 21 and 22. One or two places may receive heavy rainfall.
Updated on September 19, 2015, 12:00 PM (IST): Depression to give heavy rain over Gujarat, South Rajasthan
Depression over Madhya Maharashtra has now shifted further northwestwards and is presently lying over Saurashtra and the adjoining Arabian Sea.
With this, the rain belt will also shift and cover more parts of West India. Skymet forecasts heavy rain and thundershowers over parts of Gujarat, particularly over Saurashtra and southern parts.
Madhya Maharashtra, Konkan region and parts of South Rajasthan will also receive heavy Monsoon showers.
According to Skymet Meteorology Division in India, the depression will sustain its strength for next 24 hours due to its interaction with the Western Disturbance over Jammu and Kashmir and adjoining region.
The system will continue to move in a northwest direction and travel up to Rajasthan and thereafter till northern plains. This will be responsible for giving rain over northwestern plains like Punjab and Haryana in next few days.

Updated on September 18, 2015, 06:00 PM (IST): Deep Depression over Central India weakens into a depression
The deep depression over South Chhattisgarh and neighboring areas has weakened into a depression. It is now marked over Madhya Maharashtra and West Madhya Pradesh region.
During next 24 hours, the system will move in a west/northwest direction towards Gujarat and adjoining West Madhya Pradesh. Accordingly, the heavy rainfall belt will shift from Maharashtra to Gujarat, South and East Rajasthan. Northwest Madhya Pradesh will receive some rainfall as well.
The system could weaken into a well-marked low pressure area within next 24 hours.

The depression over South Chhattisgarh and neighboring areas has moved in west/northwest direction during last 12 hours. It has now intensified into deep depression, lying over Vidarbha and adjoining Chhattisgarh region.
At around 8.30 am today, the weather system was centered at Latitude 21.0°N and Longitude 79.5°E. It is about 50 km east/southeast of Nagpur. The deep depression will move further west/northwestwards during next 48 hours.

Updated on September 17, 2015, 11:10 AM (IST): Depression over Central India to give widespread rain in next 24 hours
The well-marked low pressure area has intensified into a depression and is presently lying over Odisha, Chhattisgarh and adjoining parts of Telangana. The system is centered 50 km from southeast of Raipur. Due to favourable conditions, the system is likely to maintain its strength while it moves westwards.
The system is likely to reach upto Gujarat within next two days after it crosses East Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha and give widespread heavy rainfall in these areas.
Updated on September 16, 2015, 11:50 AM (IST): Well marked low to give heavy rain over Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh
The low-pressure area which was lying over west central Bay of Bengal became well marked low pressure area on September 15. After giving good rains over pats of Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and Peninsular India, the system has organized further showing traits of a depression and is now lying over Northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining Odisha and Coastal Andhra Pradesh.
The system has given three digit rainfall over several places along the West Coast and Odisha in last 24 hours.
The system is now expected to slowly move towards Central India including Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra and reach upto south Gujarat within next two days.
Updated on September 15, 2015, 11:50 AM (IST): Low pressure area intensifies into a well marked low
A cyclonic circulation, which was over the west-central Bay of Bengal, intensified into a low-pressure area on September 12. After giving good rains over many parts of the country, the system has become well marked and is now lying over Northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining Odisha and North Coastal Andhra Pradesh.
The system will move slowly and will affect some parts of Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh giving light to moderate rain over the region, some places may receive heavy rain. The peripherals of the system will affect West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Telangana, parts of Maharashtra as well as some areas in East Madhya Pradesh.
This well-marked low is the first significant system in the month of September. The system is likely to travel across the central parts of India including Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra. It will further move on to the other side, towards Coastal Maharashtra, Gujarat and the Arabian Sea region.
This system has the potential to cause heavy rainfall over the above-mentioned regions. Gujarat and Saurashtra are the two areas, which are in desperate need of good rains. The spell of rain due to this system will reduce the rainfall deficiency to some extent.

The low-pressure area, which is over west-central and adjoining north-west Bay of Bengal is expected to intensify into a well marked low-pressure area during the next one or two days. Initially, the system will give fairly widespread rain and thundershowers over South Odisha, South Chhattisgarh, and Coastal Andhra Pradesh.
Gradually, it will move in a westerly direction and will affect Telangana, and Marathwada. Further, it will move towards its west and give good rains over Madhya Maharashtra and coastal parts of Maharashtra.

The low-pressure area, which is over the west-central Bay of Bengal and the adjoining north-west Bay of Bengal is expected to move in a westerly direction. This shift will increase the rainfall activity over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and South Odisha. Gradually, rain will also increase over Vidarbha, Madhya Maharashtra, and South Madhya Pradesh.
Central parts of the country, which were observing subdued rainfall activity will also witness a fresh spell of rain due to this Monsoon system.

The low pressure area has formed over west central & adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal under the influence of the upper air cyclonic circulation that has persisting for last few days over westcentral Bay of Bengal. Due to this system, heavy rain at isolated places over Andhra Pradesh and Odisha coast is expected in next two days after which the system will move towards Peninsular India.

Owing to favourable conditions continuing, the cyclonic circulation is expected to intensify into a low pressure area in next 24 hours. The system that came closer to East Coast yesterday will continue to slide along the East Coast during the next week followed by a southerly location. The system will give fairly widespread rainfall along the coast including Odisha and Andhra Pradesh.
The trough branching out from this system is extending up to Uttar Pradesh that will give rain over Chhattisgarh, North Bihar and East Uttar Pradesh.
Updated on September 11, 2015 12:35 PM (IST): Cyclonic circulation in Bay of Bengal moves closer to East Coast
The cyclonic circulation, which has been stationed over west-central Bay of Bengal for last few days, has now moved westwards, closer to the East Coast. It is presently lying over northwest Bay of Bengal off the Odisha and North Andhra coast.
With this, intensity of rain will increase over Andhra Pradesh and Odisha, particularly over coastal parts.
According to Skymet Meteorology Division in India, the system is likely to persist over this area for next two more days. However, it will continue to get more organised during this period.
The system is expected to gain strength thereafter and intensify into a low pressure area but not before September 15. This system will then move inland and affect the weather over Peninsular India.
Updated on September 10, 2015 12:33 PM (IST): Low pressure area to reduce rainfall deficiency in South Peninsula region
As the cyclonic circulation intensifies and develop into a low pressure area after 48 hours, the Monsoon system is likely to give enough rain over South Peninsula region that will be sufficient in bringing down the rainfall deficiency over the region. The cyclonic circulation has already given rain over coastal Andhra Pradesh and Odisha in past 2-3 days.
According to Skymet, the cyclonic circulation persisting in Bay of Bengal has taken time to intensify into a low pressure due to the commencement of withdrawal of Southwest Monsoon. Though as soon as it organizes further, good Monsoon rain is expected over parts of South Peninsula region including Karnataka and Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
In last 4-5 days, light rain has been instrumental in bringing down the rainfall deficiency of South Peninsula region by 4%. From a deficiency of 21% on 5th September, the region is now looking at a deficiency of 17%. Once Monsoon becomes active in next couple of days, this rainfall deficiency will drop further, bringing in the respite to locals.

The cyclonic circulation over west-central Bay of Bengal is likely to gain more strength, keeping Southwest Monsoon active over Bay of Bengal and coastal parts of East India.
According to Skymet Meteorology Division in India, the system is presently in process of getting more marked and is likely to intensify into a low pressure area during next 2-3 days.
The system is also gradually shifting closer to the East Coast. Under the influence of this cyclonic circulation, we can expect moderate to heavy showers over Bay of Bengal. While, scattered light to moderate rains are expected over Odisha and Andhra Coast.
As per Skymet, the intensity of rain over parts of East India will increase as the system moves closer to the coast. And with system moving inland, rain belt will also cover Peninsular India.

A fresh Monsoon system is seen developing in Bay of Bengal. At present, we can see a trough of low pressure area in East Central Bay of Bengal which is in the process of becoming more organised.
According to Skymet Meteorology Division in India, it is likely to intensify into a cyclonic circulation during the next 24 hours and thereafter into a low pressure area. This procedure will take at least two to three days to intensify while it will simultaneously shift westwards, closer to the East Coast.
Skymet predicts, the system is expected to move inland through Odisha or Andhra coast causing good rain over these two states. The system is likely to influence weather over Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka. Few parts of Maharashtra will also get some light rain.
With this Peninsular India, which is witnessing the highest rain deficiency till now, will see prolonged spell of rain that may improve the situation to some extent.
As per the statistics, we see more number of cyclonic circulations in Bay of Bengal in September as compared to July and August. However, by this time, Monsoon is on the verge of withdrawal from Northwest India. Thus, these system do not travel far up to west and are only confined to East and Northeast India.
