Kolkata has been recording good Monsoon rains for the last many days and today was no different. At present, rain bearing clouds have been hovering over Kolkata and some places have already started recording rains and thundershowers.
In span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Tuesday, the city has recorded 4 mm of rain.

All thanks to the Monsoon trough which has been running from Punjab to North Bay of Bengal across Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Gangetic West Bengal.
The trough has been infusing moisture over the region, leading to good rains and thundershowers.
According to Skymet Weather, Kolkata will continue to relish rainy days for few more days. As the trough will continue to persist, we expect scattered light to moderate rains to continue over the state capital and nearby districts during the next 3-4 days.

With this, pleasant weather conditions are likely to prevail over the city but increased humidity may cause some discomfort.
Till now in July, the city has recorded 61.5 mm of rain. However, there is a long way to go as city has daunting target of 396 mm of monthly average rain.
However, with some good rains in offing, we are quite hopeful that city will be able to achieve the target.
