On Wednesday morning, Dera Ismail Khan recorded minimum of 0°C, which is six degrees below normal, Zhob -0.5°C, one degree below normal and Parachinar -4°C, which is almost three degrees below normal.
On December 23, Kalat witnessed -8°C as minimum, Parachinar -3.6°C, Kakul 3.2°C, Dera Ismail Khan -0.5°C, Dir -1.1°C, Zhob -0.5°C and Muree 0.5°C.
According to Skymet Meteorology Division in India, very dense fog is the prime reason for the prolonged below normal minimum temperatures. Moreover, prevailing smog has also been keeping maximum temperatures cooler than normal across the country.
At least 31 people have been reported to be dead due to severe cold conditions. While, poor visibility has led to road accidents leaving several other dead.
As per the latest forecast by Skymet, similar weather conditions are expected to prevail for next 24 to 48 hours.
