Light rains are being observed in entire Telangana for the last few days. The state hasn't witnessed widespread rains till now and therefore the deficiency in Telangana as of July 18 stands at 38%.
However, we expect rains to increase over Telangana today onward as a Cyclonic Circulation which is over Odisha coast will gradually move inwards towards Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. This change in the weather system will lead to an increase in rainfall activity in Telangana for the next 24 to 48 hours, which is until July 21. We expect light to moderate rains to occur at many places during this period.
Thereafter, the intensity of rain will once again decrease, and another spell of good rain is expected to commence over the state around July 24. This spell will continue until July 27 with increased intensity. One or two heavy spells can’t be ruled out either.
So, we can say that on and off rains are expected to occur over Telangana until the end of July. This spell of rain is going to prove beneficial in pulling down the deficiency by at least 5 to 10%. Although the month of July will end on a deficient note, the upcoming rains will ease out water scarcity in the state to some extent.
