Delhi winters have made their appearance and made their presence felt well enough. So much so that the region has been recording below normal temperatures with minimums even dropping in single digit.
Generally, Delhi is quite prone to foggy conditions, cold weather conditions as well as low visibility during the winter season. The season has begun, and the frequent Western Disturbances have set the pace.
However, the last 24 hours were unusually different weather wise. During the night time, at around 10 pm, the visibility at Palam Airport dropped to nil. Usually, foggy conditions set in late at night and as the night progresses, these conditions only witness degradation.
However, last night, the visibility improved soon and as the night progressed the fog kept clearing away. In fact, the visibility at the airport during the morning hours was at 500 metres.

Due to windy conditions, fog had lifted and was suspended which is why plenty of low clouds drifting fast were seen during the morning hours. This happened for the first time during this season.
Along with this, temperatures also remained on the lower side with the Palam observatory witnessing a maximum of 18.8 degrees (4 degrees below normal) and minimums settled at 10.6 degrees (1 degree below normal).
Safdarjung observatory saw the maximum settling at 21.3 degrees (2 degrees below normal) and maximums hovered around 11.2 degrees (3 degrees below normal).
Now, weather conditions will only get colder with minimums dropping to single digit. Not only this, maximum temperatures will also be below the 20-degree mark. Dense fog may be witnessing in some pockets during the morning hours.
