Fog unabated in India, rail traffic remains paralysed

Delhi has been enjoying fairly good visibility and clear weather for last two days. After waking up to a foggy morning on Thursday, fog reduced considerably on Friday and situation further improved today morning.

Indrapuram and Noida Fortis witnessed very dense fog but no fog was observed in Dwarka, Faridabad and Model Town.

Only shallow fog engulfed the areas of Laxmi Nagar, Vasant Kunj, Vikaspuri, Vasundhara and Noida Expressway.

The lowest visibility was around 700 meters at the Palam airport. Passengers breathed a sigh of relief as only two flights were cancelled and two delayed at the departure.

Fog in India

Meanwhile, dense fog was observed in Amritsar on Saturday as visibility in the city dropped to 50 meters. Similarly, Kolkata also witnessed dense fog with visibility reducing to 50 meters. Very dense fog was reported in Jammu and Lucknow with visibility reducing to nil. Gaya reported a visibility of 800 meters while visibility at Patna was 200 meters only. Gorakhpur experienced shallow fog with lowest visibility of 600 meters. Also, Allahabad reported visibility of 800 meters and Chandigarh 300 meters.

Train delays in India

The plethora of train delays continues and 151 trains are running way behind schedule due to the hovering fog in North and East India. Vikramsheela Express has been delayed by 11 hours and 34 minutes while the New Delhi CNB Shatabdi is running late by 14 hours and 15 minutes. Kolkata Rajdhani, Patna Rajdhani and Seldah Rajdhani are among other trains which are running late.
