Fog has further tightened its grip over several parts of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar which has been reeling under dense fog for the several consecutive days.

On Wednesday morning, Gorakhpur recorded very dense fog with visibility dropping to nil. This was followed by Patna with low visibility of 100 meters, Allahabad 200 meters, Lucknow 400 meters and Varanasi 500 meters.

The fog belt has also extended further and covered parts of northwestern plains as well. Delhi too reported nil visibility with dense fog engulfing most parts of the national capital.

Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh too reported very dense with visibility of mere 50 meters, followed by Amritsar which observed thick fog with visibility of 400 meters.

Scores of trains and flights have been delayed or re-scheduled due the low visibility. Click here for the train status.

Further, we do not expect any major changes in the weather conditions and entire Northwest and East India will be under the ambit of dense to very fog for the next few days.

According to Skymet Weather, easterly winds have increase the levels of humidity over the region. Moreover, winds are also calm and light coupled with single digit nighty temperatures. All these factors are conducive for the formation of the fog over the region.

In wake of this, we can now expect maximum temperatures to now start falling marginally over the entire region. Day maximums have been already settling below normal over most parts of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar in the range of lower 20s to mid 20s.
